Holiday Travel Tip for Air Travel – Check-in Online

During the holiday season, if you happen to be traveling by air in or to the United States, the process is much easier if you remember a key tip. Online check-in is always your friend! It will allow you to significantly reduce the time you spend waiting in line at the airport. Checking in online should also grant you the option to obtain a seat assignment, or change an undesirable seat.

I will give you a call on Monday morning on the number which was used to make your booking to do a follow up on where you were experiencing problems.

  4. I Booked Kulula with you for tomorrow, wanted to check-in online, but the Booking Code is not accepted by Kulula and I am unable to do an online check-in. Why???

  5. Cant seem to check in using Travelstart reference number, seems like its been a complaint for some time and Travelstart haven’t addressed it to date. if you provide a platform for people to raise their concerns, then you must address it… i don’t think anyone is dreaming out here..>!!!

  7. I am having the same issue with my online check in – the reference for Kulula isn’t supposed to have numbers apparently and yet mine does – now what?? Very frustrating.

      I have e-mailed you Kulula’s personal booking reference number for your flight.

      As Kulula works off a different booking system then Travelstart the reference number we provide allows our clients to call up their booking on checkmytrip to see if there has been any schedule changes. And to make sure their flights are booked and confirmed.

      However if one is wanting to check-in online with Kulula you will need to use the following reference number.

      I have tired to contact you and left a message, along with e-mailing the details.

      The reference number provided is the systems booking reference number where you can go onto checkmytrip to look for any schedule changes. Kulula’s personal booking reference number is: LKTHUW

      Apologies for replying Monday however we only check the blog Monday – Friday.

  11. Had the same problem of my travelstart booking reference not working to check in online for Kulula flight tomorrow. Very frustrating, why can’t they just send the kulula booking code with the confirmation email.

      Travelstart works in the reservations system Amadeus which results in three separate reservation numbers being generated for the same booking, if the airline has a different reservations system. Travelstart is in the process of ensuring that all the reference numbers are provided to avoid any inconvenience to our clients. In the meantime however, clients are provided the checkmytrip link in the Ticket email so that details such as airline reference, baggage allowance etc can be viewed. The checkmytrip itinerary always has the most updated information of the flight itinerary.

      Once again I apologies for the inconvenience experienced. I do hope the information above has provided some clarification. Thank you once again for your comments. Please be assured that we take all client feedback seriously and make changes if and when we can.

      In the meantime I have done a search using your e-mail address and found your booking: Departing 5th February returning 6th February for 2 passengers. I have e-mailed the airlines personal booking reference numbers to the e-mail address used to make the booking. If you have any further concerns we have a group of Customer Service Agents who would love to assist. You can contact them on urgent@travelstart.com this inbox is manned till midnight Monday – Friday. ​

    Same problem, the Kulula website is looking for a non numeric code which I was not provided with.

    How about you just fix the problem, which seems to have been going for a year, instead of waiting for people to complain and get manual feedback?

    Seriously? Next time I’d rather book on the flight site directly.

  14. i cannot access urgent@travelstart.com and I need to confirm my flight tomorrow 14th Feb CT to EL. I was not given a booking code. as I booked through travelstart (never agian!!) kulula has no record of my booking! I have a payment code 161728. please help!!! Flight is BA 6321

You mentioned that you were not able to contact us on urgent@travelstart.com would you be able to clarify what problems you experienced when trying to contact us via e-mail and I will gladly look into this as we have an agent manning that e-mail address up until till midnight. There is also an emergency after hours number which we can be contacted on, should a client departing within 24 hours and needing our assistance.

      Travelstart works in the reservations system Amadeus which results in three separate reservation numbers being generated for the same booking, if the airline has a different reservations system. We would send the Amadues reference so passengers to could go onto checkmytrip to look for schedule changes to their flight. I am happy to say our IT team has fixed this where clients are now receiving the Kulula booking reference number along with the Amadues number. However in saying this, if a booking was made before 9th February clients would have only received the Amadeus reference number.

      Again I apologies for the inconvenience caused and hopefully this will be resolved soonest. All comments from our clients are taken very seriously and we welcome the feedback.

  15. Why have you not let your passengers who booked before know about this? Now I can access neither checkmytrip nor kulula. Disgusting. And no one bothers responding to your urgent mailbox. Won’t bother with Travelstarts again.

Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience experienced. Travelstart works in the reservations system Amadeus which results in three separate reservation numbers being generated for the same booking, if the airline has a different reservations system. Our IT team has finalized the synchronization development to ensure that all relevant reference numbers are provided. However this came into play about 3 weeks ago. Any bookings made before would still have the Amadeus reference number sent to the passenger. I see your booking was made before the change took place.
      I have done a search using your e-mail address and see my colleague Gadija has replied with Kulula’s personal booking reference number.

      I do hope the information above has provided some clarification. Thank you once again for your comments. Please be assured that we take all client feedback seriously and make changes if and when we can.

      I will give you a call shortly to do a follow up and see if you managed to check in.

  17. It is astonishing how each complaint is about the same issue and you still have not managed to get it together. Last time I make use of this web site. I have a flight booked for tomorrow but no idea what time as I can not access my flight details online. Disappointing

      Did you make a booking with Travelstart or the airline direct?

      Please can you send us more information on, which website you are trying to do online check-in and was your booking made through Travelstart? If your booking was not made with us, unfortunately we will not have access to your booking for security purposes.

    I have a booking done via travelstart. The BA flight departs tomorrow at 6:25 a.m. and I am trying to check in online. The code requested is not correlating with the BA online check in requirements. Please help urgently!!

      Apologies for only responding now however this blog is only checked midweek (Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm)

      We do have an inbox urgent@travelstart.com which is checked daily until midnight.

      If the booking was made through Travelstart and passengers have any emergencies (departing within 24 hours) we do have an after hours emergency number where passengers can contact us and speak to an agent who will gladly assist.

  21. Hi it is evident that alot of people are having the same issue. You mentioned in that this was resolved earlier during the year. Why cant you send through the airlines own reference on the ticket which will allow us to check in online. Please don’t give me your standard reply cause i have ead all the above post and you do not seem to address the problem. Get the problem sorted.

      I’ve followed up with my manager who confirmed the airlines booking reference number used to check-in are showing on the e-ticket sent to the clients who make a booking on our website.

      If you have made your booking with Travelstart and we have not provided the airline reference number used to check-in online, please can you e-mail us at urgent@travelstart.com and we will gladly send this through to the relevant department who will look into this.

  22. Hi. I doubt whether I will ever use Travelstart again, one problem after the other. I needed wheelchair assistance and had to phone your office to organise it as my booking reference was not recognised on the SAA site and again now I have been trying to book in online for the past hour and the number is just not recognised. What exactly am I supposed to do as I also need to book a priority seat due to my health problems.

      Thanks for getting in touch and sorry to hear you did not have a good booking experience.

      One is only able to call up their booking on SAA website 24 hours prior to departure. The same would apply if you had booked directly through the airline.

      If you were trying to call up your booking within this time frame the reference number you tried to insert was it: 78O2IB as sometimes passengers mistake the O for a 0 and the letter I for an l

  23. Checking your website it says that can contact your emergency site …. cannot access this, it also says that there is an emergency number we can try ….. where is this number. Totally unacceptable and fraudulent.

      You mentioned our website says, “contact your emergency site” and “that there is an emergency number” if you could please send a screenshot of this to feedback@travelstart.com and we will gladly look into this and pass this onto the relevant team.

    I booked for a friend on a SAFAIR flight from George to CT on the 18th March. When making the booking I didnt ask for a confirmation email, so all I have is the booking code which Safair doesnt accept. Could you send me a confirmation email with the Safair booking code? The booking code which I obtained from you was ZA02345155. We’ll do the check in directly with Safair.

      I’ve called up booking ZA02345155

      When a booking is made a confirmation e-mail is automatically sent to the e-mail address used to make the booking.

      After we have processed payment an e-ticket will be sent.

      I’ve just gone onto Fly Safair’s website and managed to call up the booking. Maybe you have mistakened the letter I for the letter L or number 1.

      Kindly note it is the letter I after the letter J in your booking reference number.

      It’s best to copy and paste the reference number and then insert the surname.

      I will give you a call shortly to see if you managed to come right.

      I’ve taken the Mango confirmation number we e-mailed through to you and managed to call up your booking directly on Mango’s website.

      A screenshot has been taken where I’ve e-mailed through to your e-mail address confirming this.

  26. I am horrified that I cannot check in online with safair. I am disabled so wanted to give myself extra time but i dont have a valid reference for safair check in. I will be sure to let my twitter followers and facebook friends know never to book through your site. It is simply unacceptable that people have complained about this for years and you have not sorted it out

      I’ve done a search using your name and surname and located your booking. The e-ticket sent has your Fly Safair confirmation number on it. Where you are able to insert on their website and manage your booking.

      Should you wish to request assistance you can do so by filling out the following form. As they only take a certain amount of passengers requesting special assistance onbaord I have contacted the airline who confirmed they still have space.

      One is only able to check in 24 hours prior to departure.

      Go to: http://www.flymango.com, click manage travel, then view booking. Insert your Mango booking number and one of the passengers date of birth. The booking will come up. Scroll to the bottom you will see Manage Travel again. And the second option is Online check-in.

      It will ask:
      Are you a Codeshare Guest? you will say No, as your flight is not a code share flight operated by another airline.

      You can then fill in the rest of your details: Booking Reference or E-ticket Number and birthday and click Identify.

  28. Hi, i ALWAYS make my booking directly with Kulula, i book my seat online and NO problem. This is the first and last time i will use Travelstart. I can not check in online with Safair!!,, seems this is the problem with you guys the whole country have — WHY???????? My ref is ZA02692111.
