Getting to Inhaca Island

Maputo is an easy 1 hour and 5 minute flight from Joburg to Maputo, Manico Camp will help you arrange an airport shuttle from Maputo International Airport and a boat crossing (50 minutes).

There is also the option of the government ferry Nyaleti leaves Maputo’s Catembe pier at 7.30am on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays (Mtc400). Then departs from Inhaca at 3pm. The crossing takes 3 hours.

Maputo is an easy drive from KZN and Johannesburg, just be sure to have the following documents with you if you are taking your vehicle across the border:

International and South African driver’s licenses are recognised in Mozambique.

Visas

South Africans may visit Mozambique visa-free for 30 days. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your date of return.

Remember minors need to travel with their unabridged birth certificates.

Malaria

It’s advisable to take anti-malaria tablets before/ during your visit to Mozambique. Easily obtained through your doctor, they are a must during the summer months.
