1. The Cave, Chapman’s Peak Drive
Heading out from Hout Bay, cruise along the infamous Chapman’s Peak Drive past the day trip point of no return until you reach the second look-out point. Alarm some passersby by slipping through the railings and make a tentative trek down the mountain veering a little to the left. The sheltered sand-stone cave boasts the perfect view of an almost Mediterranean Atlantic. There’s plenty of space to enjoy a packed picnic lunch and take in the dreamy blue sea and sky combo with a group of friends.Just be sure not to disturb this sensitive natural environment so that others can enjoy it too.
2. The Rock at the end of Ocean View Drive, Fresnaye
Make your way past the imposing houses on Ocean View Drive to the very end at what looks like a dead-end. Proceed on foot past the bushes and over the boulders onto a beautiful flat rock that overlooks Camps Bay and Clifton. We promise a secluded and spectacular view whether you’re toasting the sunrise or sunset.
3. La Petite Mort

The best-kept dining secret in Cape Town; sign up for self-taught chef André Sales’ unforgettable feasts held on occasional Saturday nights in the Bo-kaap. Sales cooks for no more than 16 guests at a time, one evening it might be Andalusian food; think flavours of pomegranate, citrus, pimentón, parsley and lavender and another it will be something completely different yet equally delicious.

4. The Tunnels under Cape Town

Much like the catacombs and sewers of Paris this is an entirely different way to get to know Cape Town. 6. Best Picnic Spot

Take a drive along Tafelberg road towards Devil’s Peak, past impatient tourists waiting to board crowded cable cars, past the dassies cheerily sunning themselves until you find a bench facing a magnificent scoop of Cape Town. Break out the beers and bacon sandwiches, spread out a picnic blanket and bask in the unbeatable view with your back to one of the 7 wonders of the world.
