And a “Goeie More” from Oudtshoorn! After Cango yesterday we stumbled upon a huge heard of ostriches and spent a while making small-talk with them and learning the ostrich dance. See our Flickr page for pics! Dinner we had at a great local Italian restaurant, complete with the obligatory ostrich in your pasta! We took this brief opportunity to put our feet up with a beer and set about plotting our day to come.
We spent the night at a great local backpacker’s spot, Karoo Soul. A huge recommendation from me if you’re looking for cheaper accommodation, remember too that backpackers does not mean sharing a room with 20 smelly teenagers, at this backpackers you get awesome twin and double rooms with stunning decor. Set on top of a hill in a convenient location it has great views of the countryside and picturesque town below.
Definitely don’t miss some chill-out time in the pool or at the boma bar, chatting to the myriad of different nationalities calling this place home for a few nights. If you tire of socialising, there’s always a hammock around to flop into and doze under the trees! All in all, this was such a great and welcoming place to stay courtesy of our hostess Ilze and her beautiful black lab, Bruce! See her website for more info and our Flickr page for pics!
Next, we’re on to Phantom Forest in Knysna! Watch this space!
