Valley of the Waves, Sun City

We went to Sun City recently and was shocked at the cost for two people at the end of the day.

Entrance per person at the gate R70. Entrance to Valley of the Waves R40 per person. You can also pay R150 at the gate and get entrance at the gate, entry to the water park and a hamburger. An ice cream will set you back R15 and a soda almost R10 (small bottle). Hiring an umbrella and locker R170. You get back just more than R100 on returning the goods.

Walking onto the man-made beach with the rough sand, you definitely feel like you are on the beach. The “ocean” is a pool, with a bottom painted the colour of the sand. The pool is huge and when the wave comes… it becomes a pool with a wave.
I went on a few of the rides – the short super tube rides and the open ride for the tubes. I really am not a fan of the rides that was enclosed – why bother going on a ride if you can’t see where you are going?

I enjoyed the slow tube ride around the island – driven by a current. We went with friends and had quite a fun time while trying to stay close enough to chat.
At 6pm the Valley of the Waves close… but if you are on the bridge of elephants, you will be shaken and smoked. Literally!

Baboons may cross the bridge or pi.jpgazza in front of the monkey fountain – please don’t feed or approach them!
