Although I have to admit that I don\u2019t get excited until after I\u2019m airside in the <em>duty free<\/em> area. I hate passing through the endless queues at security, having to take off pretty much all my clothes and then having to empty my entire suitcase. That usually gets me really cranky. But what can you do?<\/p>\n<p>Desperate times ask for desperate measures and I guess we just have to live with these drastic security checks. Although some of these security measures are a bit over the top, if you ask me, but that\u2019s a different blog. Now <em>Manchester Airport<\/em> wants to try and speed up the security checks and reduce the wait, not by using human<em> customer service agents<\/em>, <em>but holograms<\/em> of them.<\/p>\n<p>The airport have hired the firm that was behind the famous animated band <em>Gorillaz<\/em> to create holograms of two customer service staff that will welcome passengers before they go through the security checks. Images of <em>John Walsh<\/em> and <em>Julie Capper<\/em> will pop up and as sci-fi as it sounds, they will actually explain to you what you can and can not bring on board and to have your boarding pass at the ready.<em>Julie Armstrong<\/em>, customer services director at <em>Manchester Airport<\/em>, stated: &#8220;We are always looking for new ways to improve the experience of our airport for customers.<\/p>\n<p>But four years after the restrictions were introduced, passengers understandably forget about liquids. We don&#8217;t want anyone to have to throw their drink or make up away so we&#8217;ve tried lots of different ways to reinforce the liquid rules, from posters to people dressed up as giant deodorant cans!<\/p>\n<p>Maybe holograms are the answer? You certainly can&#8217;t miss them and with the real John and Julie already being popular with our customers, I&#8217;m hopeful that their virtual selves will be a big hit too.&#8221; I\u2019m all for trying to reduce the waiting time at the <em>X-ray machines<\/em>, but if you ask me, the only solution will be if there are fewer passengers.
