Although <strong>Carnaval <\/strong>(as it\u2019s known in Portuguese) is celebrated all around Brazil, the focus is in <strong>Rio de Janeiro<\/strong> where thousands of people flock to this vibrant city for four days of <strong>Samba<\/strong>, Parades and pure, unadulterated fun.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019ve already booked your tickets to the <strong>2011 Rio Carnival<\/strong> then you\u2019re in for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.\u00a0 Rio Carnival is a huge tourist attraction and over 500\u00a0000 tourists are expected at this year\u2019s festivities.<\/p>\n<p>Rio is a city that has it all and this is exemplified during Carnival. When you\u2019re not sipping <strong>Caipirinhas<\/strong> on one of Rio\u2019s beautiful beaches (think<strong> Ipanema<\/strong>) then there\u2019s ample opportunity to indulge in everything else this cosmopolitan city has to offer \u2013 inspiring architecture, lush rainforests, plenty of shopping and of course the amazing nightlife.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Visit the Rio Carnival Sambadrome in 2011<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Let\u2019s not forget while you\u2019re going to Rio in the first place. The <strong>Rio Carnival<\/strong> is something else and anything I write here won\u2019t do it justice\u2026 you really have to experience it to believe it.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Sambadrome at the Rio Carnival<\/strong> is the eye of the storm. Originally a long road, event organisers have now built seating for over 30\u00a0000 people on each side of the road. This grandstand of sorts stretches into the sky and if you have the right <strong>Rio Carnival tickets<\/strong>, you\u2019ll be well-positioned to witness the madness from above. The <strong>Sambadrome<\/strong> is the epicentre and provides awesome photo opportunities for your Rio Carnival experience.<\/p>\n<p>Stand in awe of the <strong>Samba dancers<\/strong> as they parade down the street. Imagine the sight of thousands of dancers following colossal floats \u2013 it truly is like nothing you\u2019ve seen before. The vibe is positively electric and all this goes on until the late hours of the morning!<\/p>\n<h2><strong>2011 Rio Carnival Dates<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Rio is a <a title=\"Visa Free Destinations for South Africans\" href=\"https:\/\/travelstartstg.wpenginepowered.com\/visa-free-destination-ideas-for-south-africans\/\" target=\"_self\">Visa free destination for South Africans<\/a> and the <strong>2011 Rio Carnival<\/strong> starts on Saturday, March 5<sup>th<\/sup> and ends on <strong>Fat Tuesday<\/strong>, March 8<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Did you know? <\/strong>The <strong>Rio Carnival<\/strong> is considered an act of farewell to the pleasures of the flesh.
