It\u2019s the newest addition to the <strong>Cape Town market<\/strong> scene and it didn\u2019t disappoint. Located in Hout Bay\u2019s quaint fishing harbour, the pungent aroma of fish and a dead seal (I think) greeted me as I pulled into one of the parking bays at the markets ample parking area. It was Sunday, 3<sup>rd<\/sup> July but the markets official opening was on the Saturday and saw over 2000 visitors through the doors during its long opening hours from 9am to 5pm.<\/p>\n<p>The big old wharf-side warehouse (previously an old fish factory) provides the perfect location and the d\u00e9cor is a mixture of rustic maritime and irie &#8211; be sure to check out the awesome tree stump chandelier. The entire interior is a smoke free zone and it\u2019s obvious the organisers have the environment front of mind with their own recycling program encouraging market goers to make use of the demarcated rubbish bins for junk.<\/p>\n<h2>Food Stalls <a href=\"https:\/\/travelstartstg.wpenginepowered.com\/bay-harbour-market-in-hout-bay\/bay-harbour-market-hout-bay\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-19503\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-19503\" title=\"Bay Harbour Market Hout Bay\" src=\"https:\/\/travelstartmu.wpenginepowered.com\/zablog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/10\/bay-harbour-market-hout-bay.jpg\" alt=\"Bay Harbour Market Hout Bay\" width=\"293\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/h2>\n<p>While the <strong>Hout Bay Harbour Market<\/strong> offerings are mainly aimed at the ladies, men won\u2019t be dissatisfied with the great variety of food on offer, a number of bars selling draught beer, the genuine dry Everson\u2019s cider from Grabouw, and the live music entertainment. My morning started with a Bean There coffee from Nap before moving on to an excellent fry up for just R30. Later on I couldn\u2019t resist a \u2018What the Fudge\u2019 pancake with a filling of roasted almonds, banana and fudge\u2026 delicious. I noticed that Mr Juice from the popular <a title=\"Earth Fair Market\" href=\"https:\/\/travelstartstg.wpenginepowered.com\/earth-fair-market-cape-town\/ \" target=\"_self\">Earth Fair Market<\/a> was also there. Currently there are about 76 registered traders at the <strong>Bay Harbour Market<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Why go to the Hout Bay Harbour Market?<\/h2>\n<p>So in summary here are the reasons why you should visit the <strong>Hout Bay Market<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It\u2019s Cape Town\u2019s newest market<\/li>\n<li>It\u2019s open all weekend (Saturday 9am -5pm &amp; Sunday from 9am \u2013 4pm)<\/li>\n<li>It\u2019s great for kids, adults, couples<\/li>\n<li>Free live music<\/li>\n<li>It\u2019s indoors so it\u2019s perfect for those rainy Cape days<\/li>\n<li>There\u2019s plenty of free parking with car guards on duty<\/li>\n<li>Food, beer and good coffee on sale<\/li>\n<li>Arts, crafts, d\u00e9cor and clothing on sale<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Directions<\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019re coming from Cape Town then enter Hout Bay from the Llandudno side. When you\u2019re at the bottom of Suikerbossie (you\u2019ll be on Victoria Avenue) carry on straight through the robots, through the 1<sup>st<\/sup> and 2<sup>nd<\/sup> circle until it becomes Northshore Drive. Northshore Drive bears right and becomes Harbour Road. The road eventually ends in a car park and you\u2019ve arrived at <strong>Bay Harbour Market<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>You can follow the <strong>Bay Harbour Market<\/strong> on <a title=\"Bay Harbour Market on Twitter\" href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/bayharbourmkt \" target=\"_blank\">Twitter<\/a> (Facebookers can visit them <a title=\"Bay Harbour Market on Facebook\" href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/bayharbour\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>).
