Some airports such as the one in <strong>Dubai<\/strong>,  actually have some proper loungers, but usually you have to make do with  whatever you can get. And believe me,\u00a0 trying to wrap your legs around  the armrests, your head propped on your duty free shopping bag while  trying to block out the incessant stream of announcements and keeping  one eye open to watch your valuables, isn&#8217;t easy.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_20266\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20266\" style=\"width: 290px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-20266\" href=\"https:\/\/travelstartstg.wpenginepowered.com\/moscow-sheremetyevo-airport-trials-new-sleep-box\/sleep-pod-2\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-20266\" src=\"https:\/\/www.travelstart.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/sleep-pod1.jpg\" alt=\"sleep box\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-20266\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">sleep box by the Arch Group<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>However, that could be a thing of the past very soon.  In the not so far future you might be able to hire a <strong>sleep box<\/strong> if you  feel the sudden urge to catch some zzz\u2019s while you\u2019re in transit or  waiting for a delayed flight.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Russian architecture bureau Arch Group<\/strong> has designed  the <strong>sleep box<\/strong> of which demonstration models were recently introduced  at <a href=\"http:\/\/svo.aero\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">Moscow\u2019s Sheremetyevo Airport<\/a><strong>.<\/strong> The pods are based on the Japanese  sleeping capsules you find at train stations  there (mainly used by stranded business men after a wild night out with  the colleagues, or so I have been told.) These <strong>sleep pods<\/strong> are a bit bigger than these claustrophobia inducing capsules. They are about 2  meters long, 1.4 meters wide and 2.3 meters  high. They have two bunks that measure two meters in length, there is a  window, a desk, space for luggage, lights, sockets and much more. It  just really is a hotel room in a compact box. They can be rented for as little as 30 minutes and prices are expected to be around 10 USD per hour.<\/p>\n<p>These <strong>sleep pods<\/strong> are so compact and easy to install that  they could\u00a0 be placed right at the gates for instance. Which means a lot  less travel time in the morning as you can roll right from the comfort  of your pod bed straight into your (not so comfy) seat on  the plane.
