Further in the distance stands His Majesty&#8217;s Building, which at the time of completion was the tallest building in Africa.<\/p>\n<h2>Kerk &amp; Sauer Street with Jeppe Street Power Station (Turbine Hall)<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travelstartmu.wpenginepowered.com\/zablog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/10\/Screen-Shot-2014-04-29-at-4.33.38-PM.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-33261  aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/travelstartmu.wpenginepowered.com\/zablog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/10\/Screen-Shot-2014-04-29-at-4.33.38-PM.png\" alt=\"Kerk &amp; Sauer Street\" width=\"570\" height=\"205\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Jeppe Street Power station operated until the 1970s. The Albertina Sisulu route runs from Krugersdorp on the west of the mining belt right through to eMalahleni on the east.<\/p>\n<h2>Simmonds &amp; President Street<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travelstartmu.wpenginepowered.com\/zablog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/10\/Screen-Shot-2014-04-29-at-4.37.08-PM.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-33271  aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/travelstartmu.wpenginepowered.com\/zablog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/10\/Screen-Shot-2014-04-29-at-4.37.08-PM.png\" alt=\"Simmonds &amp; President Street\" width=\"570\" height=\"205\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jay Walking is still the norm in modern day Johannesburg.
