From Franschhoek and Stellenbosch to Constantia and the Swartland, wine lovers can spend days on end visiting different farms. But what if you\u2019re looking for something a little more unique? Say hello to 4×4 wine safaris! We\u2019ve selected our top wine safaris in Cape Town<\/a> and its surrounds \u2014 a guaranteed adventure that promises great wines and even better memories.<\/span><\/p>\n

Klein Constantia Wine Estate – Constantia<\/h2>\n

Tucked away in South Africa\u2019s oldest wine region, Constantia, Klein Constantia<\/a> offers daily 4×4 wine safaris. Led by one of the estate\u2019s wine experts, jump on board the 4X4 vehicle and venture up the slopes lined with vineyards. Go on a journey of the wine farm\u2019s history and the various types of grapes that they grow while taking in breathtaking views that never seem to end. <\/span><\/p>\n

Perched towards the top of the estate, you\u2019ll get to enjoy a glass of Klein Constantia MCC while relaxing on a sunny deck overlooking False Bay. Not that many people need convincing when it comes to bubbles, but their MCC was served at Prince Harry and Meghan\u2019s wedding \u2013 a sure winner! After a glass or two, you\u2019ll head back to the tasting room for a cellar tour before entering Duggie\u2019s Dungeon for a tasting. A secret spot hidden under the public tasting room, the beautiful dim-lit dungeon has walls lined with vintages dating back more than 50 years. Taste your way through Klein Constantia\u2019s range of wines including their award-winning <\/span>Vin de Constance<\/span><\/i>, a natural sweet wine that has been enjoyed by the likes of Napolean, Marie Antoinette and Nelson Mandela. <\/span><\/p>\n

Jordan Wine Estate – Stellenbosch<\/h2>\n

With a history dating back over 300 years, Jordan<\/a> has been producing terroir expressive wines since 1993. Climb onto the back of their open safari-type game viewing Land Rover and you\u2019ll head out for a tour of their beautiful vineyards. Not only learning about the vines and the resident flora and fauna, but you\u2019ll also get to hear the stories behind the names of their wines. From estate explosions to the South African Apartheid-famed singer, Rodriguez, every little detail of the farm comes with an interesting tale to be told.<\/span><\/p>\n

As you venture through the estate, you\u2019ll get to taste a selection of wines while overlooking views of False and Table Bay, simultaneously questioning your career path and whether winemaking is a possible option. The experience ends with a cellar tour, where you\u2019ll get to taste wines directly from the barrel or enjoy them on the terrace overlooking the dam.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Waterford Estate – Stellenbosch<\/h2>\n

Situated in the charming Blaauwklippen Valley, Waterford Estate<\/a> whisks you away to what feels like a little piece of Tuscany. Beautiful stone walls, terra cotta flooring, cobbled paths and manicured gardens, it\u2019s easy to forget that you\u2019re still in the Stellenbosch region. <\/span><\/p>\n

After taking in the exquisite surroundings, head out on a one-of-a-kind trip on the Waterford safari vehicle through the 120-hectare estate set on the slopes of the Helderberg mountain. Joined by one of the estate\u2019s knowledgable staff, you\u2019ll be guided through the ins and outs of everything that goes into making their award-winning wines. Stopping at two picturesque locations along the way, you\u2019ll taste a selection of wines that are perfectly paired with delicious snacks. After the safari, the experience will end back at the winery with a chocolate and wine pairing \u2013 yum! <\/span><\/p>\n
