Welcome to another edition of Travelstart’s FAQ Friday with me, Nick Paul. This week we are going to be looking at 5 great value for money resorts in Zanzibar. These packages are not necessarily the cheapest, but they are the best value for money in terms of locations, inclusions and the quality of the hotel. All of the prices we are quoting are rough guidelines for per person sharing, travelling up until the 22nd of December 2014. The prices are for holidays including flights from Joburg, taxes, 7 nights accommodation, all meals and selected drinks, which include some alcoholic beverages.
Melia Hotel
If you are looking for great luxury, this is the best value for money hotel on the island. It is located on the northeast coast of Zanzibar, just 45 minutes away from the airport. It is a beautiful 40 acre estate with a fantastic beach and luxurious rooms.

Located one hour from the airport in the southeast of the island, Karafuu is known for its friendly service, excellent cuisine and great facilities.

- Water sports center (deep sea fishing, snorkeling and diving)
- Spa
- Gym

Voi Kiwengwa Resort
Just 40 minutes from the airport on the east coast of Zanzibar, the Voi Kiwengwa is on one of the best stretches of coastline on the whole island. The great Italian style resort has:

- Spa

Double Tree by Hilton
The 4 star Double Tree by Hilton is located on the northern tip of the island, about one hour from the airport.
You may think that it is unusual for there to be a Hilton on the island of Zanzibar, but this is not like any of the other city style Hiltons. This Hilton is right on the beach complete with swaying palm trees and a great island feel.

Uroa Bay Beach Resort
This is the most affordable of the value for money resorts on Zanzibar. It is located on the east coast of Zanzibar alongside the quite little fishing village of Uroa. The resort boasts its very own private beach for its guests.
