The Great Airline Codes Quiz Of 2016

So you fancy yourself a frequent flyer, you know your Mango’s from your FlySafair’s and your Emirates’ from your Etihad’s plus you’re a deft hand at securing the revered emergency exit seats.

But how well do you know the codes of your favourite carriers? You know … those letters (and in some case numbers) which precede the flight number printed on your boarding pass.

Take this quiz to find out!

What’s an airline code you ask?

Airline codes are set by IATA (International Air Transport Association). These are two-character designation codes assigned to the world’s airlines. Although the IATA standard provides for three-character codes, IATA has so far not used the optional third character in any assigned code. Controlled duplicates are issued to regional airlines whose destinations are unlikely to overlap.
