So after that fantastic experience at Shamwari, we began the long slog to East London. We were told to go down the R72, as this should be quicker, only 4 hours, well it turned out to be very much under construction and it took us an extra 2 hours! Needless to say, it was a very painful drive and we were glad to see the bright lights of East London at the end.
Now, if you were to think our dramas were over, you’d be wrong, we arrived at our accommodation in Bonza Bay and found it to be incorrectly booked, for the following night. Fuses were a little short, but we managed to find alternative accommodation at the Devereux Lodge and were able to kick back at the pool with a drink in no time. This was a great little spot from it’s oldy-worldy decor to the most amazing staff. I must make a special mention of Pumla at Devereux, she works like shes downed a litre of coffee on the hour, every hour, but always has a smile on her face and always upbeat. After directing us to a spot for dinner (Pier99 in Vincent with a R58, 16 piece sushi platter! WOW!), she even called to check if we were happy with it, or if she could direct us somewhere else – seriously impressive customer service!
The next day we were off to Vincent Park Mall, to meet our East London friends and for what can also be described as “The Great Ball Give-Away” I think you will see a white Travelstart ball bouncing on every street corner in East London. We had a hectically busy say spreading the word of the little blue circle and making sure everyone comes to Travelstart for their flight bookings. And who wouldn’t say no to our pretty faces 😉 We were very busy in East London so not many pictures were taken, but check out our Flickr pics anyway.
Next up, the long haul on the (excuse my language) N2 to Durban…
