Travelstart for the first time decided to visit Indaba – the national and regional travel expo which takes up the massive Durban International Convention Centre and it surrounding exhibition spaces. Pretty much everyone from the entire travel industry in the Southern African region was there from major tour operators, car hire companies and airlines to local guest houses, game lodges and municipalities. It’s certainly the place to be if you want to make it in the travel industry.
We partnered up with Cape Point Route, the guys and gals who market the Southern part of the Cape Peninsula as a place to visit, stay and play at. They certainly have a lot to offer and a lot to work with and theyy have great subject matter to market, stunning places like Noordhoek beach with Monkey Valley, Kalk Bay, St James and Simonstown.
We had little of our own branding and were wondering what kind of turnout we would get, it was surprisingly good. Loads of people came looking for us, and we got the word out to a lot of others we visited or who drifted by the stand. Many local municipalities were very surprised at the services we offered and were very excited to report back to their management to use us in the future! We also bumped into a lot of other people who did know about us, who had some questions and a lot of praise.
All in all, Indaba was a great experience, well worth the money spent on it, the kind of networking one does there is of top quality. You meet the right people to do the right kind of business and grow your services package dramatically. If you were thinking of going in future and were unsure, take it from me, this is a opportunity not to be missed! Check out a couple of pics on our Flickr page.
