The Suite Life: Latitude Aparthotel Review

Earlier this month, we were invited to stay at Latitude Aparthotel and experience what makes this trendy establishment a favourite for travellers in search of long-stay accommodation. Upon first glance, this impressive building towers high above Sea Point Main Road. We couldn’t wait to see the view from the top!

Latitude Aparthotel features 33 apartments, secure parking, a rooftop cafè with an outdoor braai area and pool, and a state-of-the-art coworking space. Perfectly located in the hub of vibey Sea Point, you’re a stone’s throw from local supermarkets, trendy cafès and the famous Sea Point Promenade.

From their friendly and efficient check-in to QR-coded menus, Latitude prides itself on its digital, contactless services.

The rooms

Geared towards longer stays, you’ll feel right at home here. Choose between spacious one, two or three-bedroom apartments. All suites come standard with uncapped Wi-Fi and smart televisions to keep you connected and entertained. Each suite is tastefully furnished and decorated with modern appliances throughout. Think minimalistic chic with a touch of local to give you that warm, homely feel.

Enjoy all the comforts of a home away from home, tastefully decorated with local wall art and plush velveteen couches. A spacious dining table and desk with built-in plug points means you never have to leave your suite to find a suitable working spot. But if you’d like a change of scenery, pop upstairs to their co-working space.

The bedrooms are spacious with large windows that let in all the natural light and give you a birds-eye view of the streets below. There is ample cupboard space and even a built-in safe to store your valuables. If you’re staying with a little one, you can ask for a cot at no extra charge.

Step into the bathrooms. The white simplicity is offset by trendy chrome black finishes. The one-bedroom apartments come standard with a shower, while the two and three-bedroom units feature a gorgeous bathtub you can soak in for hours.

Latitude Aparthotel takes self-catering to the next level. Kitchens are kitted out with Smeg appliances and sleek granite countertops. All units are fitted with a built-in hob, dishwasher (‘cos who has time for dishes?), washing machine and microwave. Wake up to a fresh cup of coffee from the Nespresso machine as you enjoy the wild sea views from your balcony.

When hunger strikes, feel free to page through the recipe books for a little inspiration. The three-bedroom apartments come with a gas braai, so you can sharpen your braai skills whenever the mood strikes.

If you’d like your apartment cleaned, their daily housekeeping service is available until 16:00.

Latitude Cafè

You’ll find the rooftop cafè on the ninth floor, boasting enviable views of the Atlantic seaboard. The open plan dining area makes for a casual, relaxed atmosphere. Their 24-hour menu means you can order whatever you like, whenever you like for those days you just don’t feel like cooking.

Day visitors are most welcome to pop in and enjoy the cafè and patio pool. Their free Wi-Fi makes it easy to mix a little business with pleasure, so why not?

After a ‘day at the office’, kick back upstairs on the patio loungers as you watch the sunset from the balcony. This is even the perfect spot to curl up with a book in the afternoon. Choose from a selection of local Lady Bonin teas, or the barman can whip up a refreshing sundowner from their wide selection of gins.

Breakfast is a whole ‘nother treat. They have the usual favourites like English breakfast, eggs benedict and omelettes, or opt for healthier options like their chia seed bowl and homemade granola. Lunch ranges from quick toasties to fresh salads and mouth-watering snack plates, including seared tuna, chilli lime calamari and triple cooked fries (seriously, we had to stop ourselves from pigging out!).

Their dinner menu offers simple favourites like boerie rolls, burgers and bobotie to more upscaled delights of ribeye steak, prawns and curry. Try their signature braai platter on Fridays for only R175.

Perhaps the biggest thing to love about Latitude Cafè is its commitment to using freshly sourced, local ingredients. Their seasonal menu allows their in-house chefs to create selected items by hand, from their granola down to their hollandaise sauce and mayonnaise.

Saturday bubbles and brunch

Saturdays are a festive affair at Latitude. From 11:00 – 13:00, you can enjoy their bottomless bubbly and brunch for just R350  ahead. Dig into a trio of fresh oysters, eggs benedict and their luxurious chia seed bowl while you sip on the finest MCC. Booking is essential, so gather your tribe!

Coworking and meeting room venue

Whether you’re staying over or just popping in, Latitude Aparthotel is the perfect place to mix business with pleasure. Hash out some business plans over a long lunch, hire a desk in their co-working area or plan a strategy day in their state-of-the-art boardroom (available at R250 an hour). Whatever you need, the friendly staff will take good care of you. While we admit the office views are a little distracting, it reminds us of the beautiful city we get to call home.

Planning an event? Their luxurious penthouse is the perfect solution. Sleeping up to six guests with a fully-kitted out kitchen, private pool area and panoramic views of the city, you can throw the ultimate birthday bash, product launch, office party… whatever you need, these guys can make it happen.

The verdict: Would we go back? Absolutely! Latitude Aparthotel is your home away from home if you prefer an independent living space with the comfort and added services of a luxury hotel.
