Not surprisingly, the Chennai region of India has its own variety of tasty cuisine which is known as Tamilnadu. Served with a staple of rice, the food from this region is spicy and offers a range of tastes for vegetarians and meat eaters. Expect chutneys and mixed spices with every meal. Do try the iconic Chettinad Pepper Chicken dish.
The area is also famous for its Bharat Natyam dance style, which celebrates the universe through dance. The dancing is extremely impressive to watch and takes a great deal of skill.
The climate of Chennai is tropical, with two main seasons.  The summer is from April to June and is the hottest time of the year, and winter is from October till December.  The winter season is prone to monsoons and heavy rainfall is a common occurrence.  The best time to visit Chennai is after the Monsoon season and before the extreme heat of the summer.  This would mean visiting between December and March.
