From waterfronts and museums to malls, theatres and natural parks, there is something for everyone to enjoy in Minneapolis. The city has some beautiful lakes and riverfronts that are clean and safe for campers. In fact you can bike, drive, walk, swim and paddle around the chain of lakes that run from north to south along the western side of the city. Some of the lakes are connected by creeks and lagoons which spill into the Mississippi River. The lakes all make up the Minneapolis Grand Rounds – a loop of 40 miles that goes around the city. Each of the lakes has a walking path as well as a biking and skating path. Cedar Lake has three beaches and you can get there either by kayak, rowboat or canoe from the Lake of Isles.
There are various other parks in Minneapolis from historical to natural and recreational. Boom Island Park can be reached from the Stone Arch Bridge and offers good fishing opportunities and some of the most amazing skyline views on the continent. Across from the river you’ll find Mill City Museum and Mills Ruins Park.
There are a lot of shopping districts in Minneapolis, including the Uptown area and Nicollet Mall. There are also loads of bookstores and record stores where you can pick up all sorts of eclectic souvenirs.
