Porto Alegre is well-known for its nightlife. There is a vibrant popular music scene, a healthy theatre tradition and several art-house cinemas. The city’s clubs, pubs, bars and restaurants provide entertainment for a wide variety of tastes. The Sala Jazz Tom Jobim features Porto Alegre’s best jazz, and several bars spread along Farroupilha Park offer live music. Salgado Filho International Airport – POA
Porto Alegre is served by Salgado Filho International Airport, which is named after the first minister of the Brazilian Air Force, Joaquim Pedro Salgado Filho. The airport is located 6km northeast of downtown Porto Alegre and there are two terminals connected by a frequent shuttle service. Terminal 1 has taxi and bus services, while Terminal 2 has only taxi services, but is close to the Porto Alegre Metro station. In 2009 Infraero unveiled a US$64 million plan to upgrade Salgado Filho International Airport, ahead of the 2014 Soccer World Cup.
