Recently, I’ve entered the world of high teas. And how marvellous it is! My first experience was at the Mount Nelson, which was absolutely delectable. I then attended the afternoon tea at the Cape Grace Hotel in the V&A Waterfront. It is absolutely fit for a Queen.
Served daily from 12h00 to 18h00 in the stylishly comfortable Library, the choice of several varieties of loose-leaf tea combined with some intricately prepared treats, makes for an awesome afternoon. This also makes for a fantastic venue for Bridal or Baby showers.
First on offer is the Cream Tea. For R65 you’ll get home-made scones, strawberry jam and cream served with either loose-leaf tea or coffee.
Then, presented in gorgeous tiers is the Afternoon Tea. For R80 you’ll receive freshly baked traditional and savoury scones, a selection of beautifully cut finger sandwiches and irresistible sweet treats served with either loose-leaf tea or coffee.
The Afternoon Tea is also available with the added luxury of a glass of sparkling wine, that is the Deluxe Afternoon Tea, which is served at R125 per person. I had this one! A fabulous mix of sweet and savoury snacks.
Lastly, for the not-so-hungry, you’ll pay R40 for a slice of home-made cake.
With a choice of Black, White, Green and Herbal teas, there is something for every palate. And of course pure Highland Rooibos, grown wild on the high altitude Cederberg Mountains – also known as the Red Gold of South Africa, is available as one of the healthy caffeine-free herbal options.
