Hand luggage is included in your fare at a maximum weight of 7kgs. Hand luggage weighing more than 7kgs per bag or which is too large to fit into the overhead stowage compartments will need to be checked into the hold at a cost of R250 per flight.
Hand luggage maximum size dimensions (56 x 36 x 23cm). Checked-in baggage maximum size dimensions (90 x 75 x 43cm). All baggage costs and restrictions apply to children and infants as well as adults.
Safety Measures:
All passengers and staff must wear face masks during the flight.
All surfaces like security trays, check-in stations, tray tables and screens are meticulously sanitised before every flight.
Customers are advised to download their boarding passes to avoid queues.
Onboard HEPA filters extract more than 99% of air particles, including viruses and bacteria.
Travellers will be required to scan their own boarding pass and hold up their passports for inspection.
Check-in counters close 40 minutes before flight departure for domestic flights and an hour for international flights. Still, passengers are encouraged to check in at least 90 minutes before departure to avoid any last-minute delays. Each passenger requires photo identification in order to complete their check-in. A certified copy of their birth certificate is required for infants and children. For international flights, a passport is also required.
We recommend checking in online before getting to the airport - it saves you time and is easy. Online check-in opens 24 hours before departure and closes 4 hours before flight departure.
Cabin Classes
FlySafair operates the super safe and reliable Boeing 737-400's and 800’s with a seating capacity of 165 passengers per aircraft and the Boeing 737-800's with 189 passengers per aircraft. The seating configuration is 3-3. At the moment, pre-seating cannot be done on Travelstart’s website. If you want to book a specific seat or a seat with extra Legroom, it will cost between R30 and R70 per person per flight.
Payment can only be made by credit card. Don’t forget to book early to avoid disappointment as seats are limited. If you don’t want to pre-book a seat, you will be assigned one at check-in, but your choice will be limited.
Unaccompanied Minors
FlySafair offers an unaccompanied minors service for children under the age of 12. Their Unaccompanied Minors service ensures that your child receives the best care from when you check them in, to when they finally arrive at their destination. When your child has to travel alone, booking a flight with FlySafair is the next best thing to being there yourself. This service costs an additional R750. To book this service, you will need to visit the FlySafair website. Please note that this service is not available within 48 hours before departure.
Pets
FlySafair loves your pets as much as you do, but unfortunately, no pets are permitted on their flights.
