Baggage policy

***For regional flights on Kenya Airways, baggage allowance is set by the airline as follows:

Economy Class: 30kg

Business Class: 40kg

And if you’re flying to Europe on Kenya Airways:

Economy Class passengers: 2 pieces, 23kg each

Business Class passengers: 3 pieces, 23kg each

Excess Baggage Luggage that weighs more than 23kg would not be allowed inside a flight but would be treated as freight. A charge of EUR200.00 or equivalent in local currency can be applied to all baggage that exceeds 32 kg.

Baggage Restrictions

Check the airline prohibited items list which includes items such as flammable liquids, ammunition, fireworks, explosives and flares. Also on this list are: lighters, corrosive materials, radioactive materials, sporting equipment such as billiard cues, golf clubs, baseball/cricket bats, hockey sticks, baby strollers and more.

Please review this list on the airlines terms and conditions after making your booking. If you are travelling with pets, they may not be allowed except cats and dogs that can only be transported through its Airways Cargo. This should come with the necessary documents and airway bill. However, it is expected that arrangements are made prior to travelling.

Every traveller should ensure that they are at the airport within the stipulated times to avoid delays or missing the flight altogether.

International Check-in

For all international flights, passengers are required to check in at least two and a half hours before departure of flight (irrespective of Class of travel). Counters close one hour prior to departure.

Domestic Check-in

Passengers on domestic flights are required to produce some acceptable form of identification at check-in. They are required to check in at least one and a half hours (irrespective of Class of travel). Counters close 30 minutes before departure.

Priority Check-in

Flying Blue Elite members (Gold and Platinum) travelling from Nairobi to any destination can enjoy a smoother journey as Kenya Airways offers priority check-in and boarding, lounge access with one guest, among other prestigious rewards!

Present your Flying Blue card at the counter to automatically register your miles. Request for an upgrade if you have sufficient miles and get the opportunity to enjoy their business class services. Upgrades are applicable only if you hold an economy ticket booked on S, B or M booking class. Upgrades are subject to availability.

Online Check-in

You can now check in online with an e-ticket from 30 hours until 2 hours before departure! Skip the long queues at selected airports and choose your preferred seat then print out your boarding pass at your own convenience.

At the airport, drop off your luggage at the dedicated online check-in drop off point and proceed to the boarding gate. Online Check-in is a breeze with Kenya Airways!

On Board Entertainment

Travelling with Kenya Airways is fun especially if you are taking a long-haul flight. There is a wide range of in-flight entertainment specially designed to suit everyone.

You have access to more than 1000 hours of audio-visuals, lots of movies in different languages, over 40 hours of TV series and documentaries, a range of radio stations and music albums for your delight.

There are number of different video games and the cabin crew is always on stand-by to assist you if you struggle to find something on the entertainment menu.

Kenya Airways has launched direct flights to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

Kenya Airways also offers a direct flight between Nairobi and Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. This marks their 52nd destination and its second city in Zimbabwe after Harare where it operates 21 flights weekly.

The new route between Nairobi and Victoria Falls will operate three times a week on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. The Victoria Falls operation will be linked to Cape Town, South Africa. This will see the airline increase its operations to Cape Town from the current four, which are served via Livingstone, Zambia, to six.

The flight will depart in Nairobi at 7.20am, arriving in Victoria Falls at 9.30am, departing Victoria Falls 10.20am to arrive in Cape Town at 1.25pm. The return flight will take off from Cape Town International Airport at 2.15pm, arrive Victoria Falls at 5.10pm and depart Victoria Falls at 6pm and touchdown Nairobi 10pm.

Together with their SkyTeam Alliance, Kenya Airways serves 56 cities in Asia, Africa and Europe. The alliance provides passengers with access to SkyTeam’s worldwide network and passenger facilities.
