Fly To Yaoundé, Cameroon
Having transformed itself from a sleepy settlement, Cameroon’s capital city Yaoundé is nowadays a vibrant African city with a lot of sights and local markets.
It’s a fair-sized city home to about 1 million people with an economy largely focused on diplomatic, civil and administrative services. As such the standard of living and safety in this city is better than other areas of Cameroon.
Local experiences not to be missed include the mesmerising Open-Air Mass (don’t forget to dress up), browsing traditional markets such as the “Centre Artisinal” (be prepared to leave with many hand-made crafts) and the Benedictine Monastery with the Museum of Cameroon Art and, in the west of Yaoundé, the Museum of Black Art.
