Thailand is not just a backpacker’s haven or a budget-friendly family holiday destination. It’s also a lush, tropical country that offers luxury and comfort on every level. If you find yourself not having budget restraints, here’s where to play, where to stay and how to experience the very best of Thailand.
Things to Do in Thailand
Find lesser-known beaches:
Thailand’s beaches are popular for good reason and the famous spots can become extremely crowded, especially since Thailand’s “peak season” seems to have become year-round. So, do some research and visit smaller, lesser-known beaches for a more tranquil day of fun in the sun. Our faves include Laem Yai Beach (Koh Samui), Sairee Beach (Koh Tao), Klong Dao Beach (Koh Lanta) and Ao Leuk Beach (Koh Tao).
Visit national parks:
If you’re interested in nature, or just get beached out after your fill of hours on the sand, explore one of the many stunning national parks. We suggest Kaeng Krachan National Park in Hua Hin, where you can spot various forms of wildlife. We also love Khao Sok National Park near Khao Lak, famous for its untouched rainforest, and being home to exotic primates like macaques and gibbons. Or, if you’re chasing waterfalls, explore Khao Yai National Park in Pak Chong, the country’s oldest national park.
Eat your heart out:
Of course, Thai food is world-renowned and where better to indulge than at the source? With fresh seafood, loads of noodles with distinct soy and peanut flavours, and steamy veg soups the order of the day, foodies will be spoilt for choice. Hit up the local street vendors and food markets for an authentic experience, or get wined and dined at top-tier restaurants in big cities like Bangkok. We love Kavee and Gaggan Anand.
