Travelstart’s Trip Cancellation & Refund Guarantee gives you the peace of mind that you will not run the risk of losing money on your flights, in the event that you suddenly need to cancel your trip due to unforeseen incidents such as:

2. Select the flight option most suited to your schedule and budget.
3. Insert the correct passenger details according to passport / ID book.
4. Opt to purchase our Trip Cancellation & Refund Guarantee.
5. Select your preferred payment method.
6. Once payment is received, you will receive booking confirmation via email.
For both domestic and international flights one can receive a full refund of airfare and taxes for hospitalisation or death, or a partial refund of airfare and taxes for any other reason.
Remember to purchase the guarantee upfront when you are purchasing your ticket. You will unfortunately lose out on the opportunity to buy it after the event.
The Travelstart Trip Cancellation & Refund Guarantee varies in price depending on whether you are flying domestically or internationally.
Domestic Bookings: R90 per seat.
International Bookings: R260 per seat.
In order to make use of the Trip Cancellation & Refund Guarantee, it is important to ensure that you purchase the product when you initially book your flight. You will not be able to purchase this Travelstart product option once your booking is complete. You will not be able to choose the Trip Cancellation & Refund Guarantee option once the flight has commenced.
In the event that you have chosen to purchase travel insurance from a third party (not Travelstart), and you are able to claim travel insurance from the third party insurer, we will not be able to refund you any money if you decide to cancel your flight booking.
This service does not cover airline liquidation / suspension, car or hotel reservations.
Receive a full refund of airfare and taxes for hospitalisation or death, or a partial refund of airfare and taxes for any other reason.
If you purchase a domestic booking with Travelstart a Trip Cancellation Guarantee will cost you R90 and for International bookings the guarantee will cost you R260.

If you are struggling to get hold of a Travelstart consultant to cancel your booking, please contact the airline directly.
An administration fee of R250 will be payable upfront in order for refunds to be processed.
Official proof of medical incapacitation (i.e. hospital bill, medical report or admission form) or death certificate needs to be sent to Travelstart within a week of cancellation.
We also need proof of relation (in the form of a certified affidavit) should the last name of the traveller not correspond with the ill person.
Travelstart will process your refund application through the applicable airline. This process can take up to 4 to 8 weeks depending on the airline.
The money will be refunded to the bank account or to the credit card that was used to make the reservation.
