Best time to visit Francistown

On average the weather is good all year round in Francistown. The hot seasons are from September – December. During this time, there is generally an increase in tourism and there is a slight hike in the rates of hotel accommodation everywhere. The annual school holiday is also during this period so shops, restaurants and public spaces are normally overcrowded. Francistown, one of the oldest towns in Botswana, tactfully placed in the north of the country. The town is a crossroads of routes between Gaborone and Bulawayo, and will serve perfectly if you’re residing within any one of these areas.

Getting Around

Besides aircraft, Francistown has a good transportation system. The train service has been re-instated since March 2016, with more luxury refurbished trains.

• The train departs from Francistown on Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturdays, en-route to Bulawayo in Zimbabwe.

• By bus, Francistown is a transportation hub for most areas in the Northern part of the country. Bus services leave every hour for Gaborone, and the trips are 5 – 7 hours long.
