The city of Gombe is located in the state of the same name and is a relatively new destination to visit, having only been named in 1996. The city is a cultural hub for the locals of various tribes, with markets and shopping areas a great meeting place during the day time. Gombe boasts some impressive architecture such as the Gombe State University, Abubakr Umar Memorial Stadium and the Emir of Gombe Palace which was built for the leading religious scholar of the area and is open for photos to the public.

The city has some wonderful restaurants that cater to the flavours of the region. You can enjoy some local dishes such as fish stew, plantain curry and the delicacy from the area, ‘nkwobi’, which includes meat from the foot of the cow.
