Fly To Simferopol, Ukraine
Simferopol is the capital city of Crimea, situated in the southern part of the Ukraine. While the city is often seen as a gateway for travel to the Crimea region, it has enough to offer visitors to make it a worthwhile destination in its own right too.
Much like the rest of the country, culture plays a strong role in the city – there are a number of interesting galleries, museums, theatres, restaurants and clubs to see, along with a blend of historical, scenic and ‘touristy’ highlights to take in too.
Despite many reports that the airport is not the very best on the planet, it gets you where you want to be, and that is a quintessential Ukraine city with its own unique charm.

See and do
There is plenty to see in the way of attractions here, whatever your interests might be. Major landmarks to tick off your to-see list include the old train station building, Lenin Square (used for parties, outdoor events, political events and many other occasions) and the beautiful reservoir that offers some great views.
If it’s museums, history and culture you’re keen to see, be sure to visit some of the many museums in the city. Religious landmarks including lovely old churches are also found in abundance, while there is no shortage of scenic parks. For things to do, you could take a walk along Salhir River, take a trolleybus tour or catch a show at one of the theatres for a taste of Crimean dance, performance art and music.
Shopping is also sure to deliver a fine taste of Ukraine history and culture, with everything and anything from malls to quirky markets (you can pick up a good discount (‘skidkas’) at Central Market especially) and even speciality stores such as Massandra, where you can pick up good wine and cognac.
The simplest ways to get around the city is by marshutka, minivan, minibus or cab. Marshutkas, minivans and minibuses are a bit like our taxis. They are always to be seen throughout tourist areas, making it easy to hail one as you see it. Cabs are a little trickier, especially as drivers seldom speak English very well. It is best to agree on a set price for the entire journey before you take off, just to ensure that you don’t end up paying a fortune.
