Salt Lake City is quite a safe city with minimal crimes reported. There are security guards around most attractions and out in the streets in the evenings as well. There are beggars around who may ask for money but they are not rude. As with most big cities, it is important to be cautious and aware of your surroundings. It is not a good idea to keep large amounts of money and important documents in your possession. Instead, store it in your hotel safe.
