See and do

The beaches along the coasts of Sardinia offer a wealth of things to do and see. Chia and Pula in the south are gaining popularity with tourists, while the northern beaches are regarded as the most beautiful the island has to offer. For scuba divers the Alghero area is the most sought after for its subterranean caves and grottoes.
Other adventure activities can be found in the Domusnovas area which features vertical walls of limestone, wonderful for mountain climbers. Horseback riding is another favourite pastime which tourists can enjoy in Sardinia.
Archaeological sites of Nuragic constructions depicting ancient rituals and daily life are dotted around Sardinia, the foremost of which is Su Nuraxi in Barumini which was awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 1997.
Sardinia also boasts a few monuments, museums and medieval churches which are well worth a visit. Museo Sardo di Antropologia ed Etnografia, Museo Archeologico Nazionale in Cagliari, and the Museo Etnografico Sardo in Nuoro are great starting places for tourists.
