Best time to visit Sarajevo

The most popular time to visit Sarajevo is the summer (June – August), when the temperatures reach above the mid-20s and the rainfall settles around 20 mm. Of course, it also means that this is the high season for tourism, so you would have to book accommodation well in advance and be prepared to explore the city’s attractions along with crowds of other tourists. If you’d prefer a more relaxed holiday experience, visit during the months of May (spring) and September (autumn). You’ll be able to skip the peak tourist season in the summer, get more availability and enjoy pleasant temperatures around the 20s with low rainfall. If you love skiing, visit during the winter (December – February), but be prepared for cold temperatures, with January being the coldest month, at an average of -5°C.
