As a Star Alliance airline, Swiss Air links South Africa to Europe with direct flights from Johannesburg (JNB) to Zurich (ZRH). From Zurich, it’s easy to get connecting flights to other destinations through the Star Alliance network.

Baggage Allowance

For Swiss Air flights from South Africa, baggage allowance is set by the airline as follows:

  • Economy Class – 1 piece per passenger at 23kg
  • Business Class – 2 pieces per passenger at 32kg
  • First Class – 3 pieces per passenger at 32kg

Infants and small children (under 2 years) have a baggage allowance of 1 piece weighing no more than 23kg plus a folding pram in all SWISS classes.

Added Baggage Bonus: If you’re flying SWISS Economy Class from South Africa to USA, Canada or Mexico; you can take an extra bag (23kg) bringing the total baggage allowance to 46kg (2 pieces).
