Fly To St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands
Aside from its idyllic island location, Saint Thomas boasts a generous duty-free shopping scene if you’re prepared to battle throngs of cruise ship guests for bargains. However, St. Thomas is so much more than just a tax haven – laze on the white-sand beaches, splash in the Caribbean Sea and you’ll soon see that this Virgin Island presents another kind of haven. And on an island bursting with pirate legend, there’s plenty of exploration to be had too – climb the historic 99 steps constructed from the ballast bricks of 18th century Danish ships, visit Blackbeard’s Castle and work up an appetite for some more bargain hunting. The Saint Thomas shopping experience ranges from digital equipment, jewellery, crystal and porcelain, to leather products and local handicrafts. Spendthrifts should check out the Waterfront and Main Streets for the most sought after shopping on the island.
