FlySafair keeps their fares low by excluding the price of checked baggage. Should you wish to add a bag to your flight this can be selected during the flight booking process on our site for only R155 per bag per flight (up to a maximum of 20kgs). If your luggage is overweight, or should you wish to purchase baggage allowance at the airport, you will be charged R250 per piece.
If you forgot to purchase your baggage don’t despair - you can do so by visiting the FlySafair website. Payment can only be made by credit card. Hand luggage is included in your fare at a maximum weight of 7kgs. Hand luggage weighing in excess of 7kgs per bag or which is too large to fit into the overhead stowage compartments will need to be checked in the hold at a cost of R250 per flight.
Hand luggage maximum size dimensions (56 x 36 x 23cm). Checked-in baggage maximum size dimensions (90 x 75 x 43cm). All baggage costs and restrictions apply to children and infants as well as adults.
Check-in counters close 40 minutes before flight departure but passengers are encouraged to check in at least 90 minutes prior to avoid last-minute delays. Each passenger requires photo identification to complete their check-in. For infants and children travelling, a certified copy of their birth certificate is required.
We recommend checking in online prior to getting to the airport – it saves you time and is really easy. Online check-in opens 24 hours prior to departure and closes 4 hours prior to flight departure.
• All passengers and staff are required to wear face masks during the flight.
• Temperature screening will be taken at the airport terminals. Anyone with a temperature of 37.5°C will be denied entry and taken for further screening.
• All surfaces like security trays, check-in stations, tray tables and screens are meticulously sanitised before every flight.
• Passengers are required to maintain social distancing.
• Customers are advised to download their boarding passes to avoid queues.
• Window and aisle seats will be allocated first. Once these seats are full, middle seats will be allocated.
• Onboard HEPA filters extract more than 99% of air particles, including viruses and bacteria.
• Travellers will be required to scan their own boarding pass and hold up their passports for inspection.
FlySafair operates the super safe and reliable Boeing 737-400's and 800’s with a seating capacity of 165 passengers per aircraft. Seating configuration is 3-3. At the moment, pre-seating cannot be done on Travelstart’s website. If you would like to book a specific seat (at a cost of R40 per person per flight) or a seat with extra Leg room (at a cost of R70 per person per flight).
Payment can only be made by credit card. Don’t forget to book early to avoid disappointment as seats are limited. If you don’t want to pre-book a seat you will be assigned one at check-in but then choice will be limited.
Food on board
FlySafair will not be offering any catering on board, besides water.
Unaccompanied Minors or Pets
Regrettably, FlySafair does not accommodate carriage of unaccompanied minors. Only children over the age of 12 may fly alone and any children under the age of 12 needs to be accompanied by a passenger 16 years or older.
FlySafair loves your pets as much as you but unfortunately no pets are permitted on their flights.
