Security is our pledge to you;
Ozow is registered as a Systems Operator and Third-Party Payment Provider with the Payments
Association of South Africa (‘’PASA’’). Ozow applies PCI DSS and SSL security standards to
its automated EFT platform.
Ozow does not store any information that can be used to access your bank account. Ozow uses
the highest encryption standard available, in addition to your Bank multi-factor (MFA)
security mechanisms.
Through Ozow, online payment processing is safe and secure.
Am I protected against identity theft when using Ozow?
While there is no environment that is completely risk free, there are multiple security
layers in place from Ozow and the banks to protect consumers.
To ensure that all data is kept safe when using Ozow, when consumers provide credentials
during the transaction, all information is encrypted and securely passed to the bank. Ozow
then automates the process of setting up the beneficiary with the relevant details for the
consumer to approve. A key step after this is the Two Factor Authentication (“2FA”) for which
the bank communicates directly with the consumer to authorize the payment. This is sent by
bank to the consumers and approved in-app, over USSD, or in the form of a one-time-pin.
