When submitting your entry via email, please include the following:

  • Subject Line: "Your World, Your Lens Submission"
  • Body of the Email:
    • Full Name
    • Contact Information (Email Address and Phone Number)
    • Your Instagram Handle (if applicable)
  • Attachment: The photograph you are submitting in a commonly used image format (JPEG, PNG, etc.).

Post the submitted photograph on your personal Instagram account and/or story and tag @travelstart in the post.

By entering, you automatically agree to the Terms & Conditions of the Competition and consent to receive marketing communications from Travelstart South Africa. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Here's how the judging works

The final winner will be chosen by public vote on Instagram. The photograph with the most votes by the end of the voting period will be declared the winner. We will select a panel who will shortlist the entries based on the following criteria:

Creativity

Originality and uniqueness of the composition.

Relevance

How well it represents the theme "Your World, Your Lens."

Technical Quality

Clarity, lighting and overall quality of the photograph.

Emotional Impact

The ability of the photograph to evoke emotions or tell a story.

All decisions made by the judges and public vote are final and binding and not subject to any right of appeal.

  1. Organizer:
    • The "Your World, Your Lens" photography competition (hereinafter referred to as "the Competition") is organised by Travelstart Online Travel Operations (Pty) Ltd (hereinafter referred to as "the Organizer"), an entity registered in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
  2. Eligibility:
    • By entering into this Competition, you are deemed to have read, understood and accepted these terms and conditions.
    • The Competition is open to individuals aged 18 years and older.
    • Participants must be legal residents of South Africa.
    • Employees (including directors and agents) of the Organizer and their immediate family members are not eligible to participate.
  3. Competition Dates:
    • The Competition starts on Friday, 6 September 2024 at 2:00 PM South African Standard Time (SAST) and ends on Friday, 20 September 2024 at 11:59 PM SAST.
    • Entries submitted after the closing date will not be considered.
  4. Entry Requirements:
    • To enter, participants must:
      • Submit their photograph via email to socialmedia@travelstart.com. The email should include:
        • The subject line: "Your World, Your Lens Submission."
        • The participant's full name.
        • Contact details (email and phone number)
        • The participant’s Instagram handle (if applicable).
      • Post the submitted photograph on their personal Instagram account and tag @travelstart in the post.
    • In so far as any Personal Information (Full name, email and contact details) provided to the Organizer is concerned, the participants must either be the legal owner of the Personal Information provided or warrant that he/she has the informed consent (ie permission of the legal owner of the Personal Information) of the legal owner of such Personal Information required to enter into this competition.
    • Any use of Personal Information will be used strictly for the purposes of this competition, which includes the continued receipt of marketing material from Travelstart and its Affiliates (subject to your ability to opt-out at any time).
    • The use of the Personal Information, at all times, will be processed in accordance with Chapter 3 of the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPI) by the Promoter.
    • By submitting an entry via email, participants automatically opt-in to receive marketing communications from the Organizer. Participants can unsubscribe from these communications at any time by following the unsubscribe link provided in the emails.
    • Only one entry per person is allowed.
    • Content Requirements:
      • The photograph must be the original work of the Participant (and not violate any third-party Copyright) and must not contain any offensive content, including but not limited to nudity, hate speech, violence, or discriminatory imagery.
      • The use of AI-generated imagery is not permitted. Any submission found to be using AI-generated elements will be disqualified.
      • The photograph may include people, but participants must obtain permission from any recognizable individuals depicted in the image. By submitting, participants confirm that they have the right to use the image and that Travelstart has the right to use it for future marketing and advertising purposes.
  5. Prize Description:
    • The winner will receive:
      • 2 x economy return flights (CPT/DUR to JNB) including taxes.
      • 2 nights at the Sun City Hotel for 2 people sharing, including breakfast.
      • A rental car for the duration of the stay.
    • Total Prize Value: Approximately ZAR 10,500.
    • Prize Conditions:
      • The prize cannot be exchanged for cash, is non-refundable, and non-transferable.
      • Land:
        • The prize must be booked by 30 December 2024.
        • Travel must occur between October 2024 and October 2025.
        • Applicable for mid-week travel only and subject to availability at the time of booking.
      • Air:
        • The prize is valid for LIFT flights only, not including any extras.
        • The prize cannot be redeemed for LIFT Experience bookings.
        • Flights are subject to availability and standard terms and conditions.
        • The prize is valid for 1 year from the date of issue (17 September 2024) and excludes peak season (01 December 2024 - 15 January 2025), Easter 2025, and long weekends.
        • Prize holders will be liable for any fare difference should changes be made after the original booking.
        • Cancellations or postponements within 0-3 days of the scheduled departure will render the prize null and void.
    • The winning Participant and their nominated guest will need to fly together at all times throughout the booking.
    • Any additional spend over and above that mentioned as the competition prize will be for the expense of the winning participant and their nominated guest.
    • The Promoter reserves the right to substitute the Prize with any other prize/s of comparable commercial value.
    • The Prize may be subject to availability at the time of booking.
    • The prize is neither transferable nor redeemable for cash and will be subject to the conditions set out herein. No re-routing or changes to the tickets will be permitted once the tickets (for the Prize) have been issued.
  6. Judging Criteria:
    • Judging Panel: A panel selected by the Organizer (at its sole and absolute discretion) will shortlist the entries based on the following criteria:
      • Creativity: Originality and uniqueness of the composition.
      • Relevance: How well the photograph represents the theme "Your World, Your Lens."
      • Technical Quality: Clarity, lighting, and overall quality of the photograph.
      • Emotional Impact: The ability of the photograph to evoke emotions or tell a story.
    • The final winner will be chosen by public vote on Instagram. The photograph with the most votes by the end of the voting period will be declared the winner.
    • Decision Finality: All decisions made by the judges and the Organizer are final and binding and not subject to any right of appeal.
  7. Announcement of Winners:
    • The winner will be notified via email.
    • A public announcement of the winner will be made on Travelstart's Instagram page.
    • Winner Verification: The winner may be required to provide proof of identity and any other necessary information to claim the prize.
  8. Rights and Permissions:
    • Usage Rights: By entering the Competition, participants grant the Organizer a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, reproduce, display, and distribute the submitted photographs on social media platforms, marketing materials, and other promotional activities, which may include a waiver by the winner of any moral rights pertaining to the copyrighted material.
    • Copyright: Participants retain ownership of their submitted photographs.
  9. Disqualification:
    • The Organizer reserves the right to disqualify any participant who violates the Competition rules, submits inappropriate content, engages in fraudulent activities, or submits AI-generated imagery.
  10. Liability:
    • The Organizer is not responsible for any technical failures, lost, delayed, or incomplete entries, or any other issues that may prevent a participant from entering the Competition.
    • The Organizer will not be held liable for any damage, loss, or injury related to the Competition or the acceptance and use of the prize.
  11. Data Protection:
    • The Personal Information of participants will be used solely for the purpose of administering the Competition and in accordance with Travelstart's privacy policy available: HERE.
    • By submitting an entry via email, participants agree to receive marketing communications from the Organizer. Participants can unsubscribe from these communications at any time by following the instructions provided in the emails.
    • Personal Information will not be shared with any third parties or beyond the borders of the Republic of South Africa without the participant’s consent, except where required by law. In the event of the Organizer having been required to process any personal information outside of the borders of the Republic of South Africa, this will be done in accordance with a contractual understanding obligating the parties to process the personal information in a manner no less stringent than that provided for in POPI.
  12. Governing Law:
    • The Competition and its Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of South Africa.
  13. Additional Information:
    • The Organizer reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions at any time. Any changes will be communicated to participants via the Competition landing page or social media channels.
