Intermediate Systems Engineer

Purpose of Role

To manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure. Installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software and system management tools. Ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.

Key Performance Areas & Indicators

Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure to ensure highest levels of availability

• Monitoring tooling, drilling into transaction details and able to identify possible issues.

Maintain security, back up and redundancy strategies

• Give feedback and implement security, backup, and redundancy strategies defined by more senior colleagues

Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks

• Be comfortable with automation & orchestration tools to write and maintain basic scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time.

Participate in the design of information and operational support systems

• Participate in the design of information and operational support systems

Provide 2nd and 3rd level suppory – Liase with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution

• Provide 2nd and 3rd level support - Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Ability to manage ambiguity & time horizons
• Analytical skills
• Structured Query Language (SQL)
• Relational Database Management Systems experience
• Coding / Scripting concepts
• Release Engineering
• Infrastructure architecture ("- AWS Environment (VPC, Subnets, Instances, etc.)
• Security practices in place
• Infrastructure, Image Configuration & Management tools
• Kubernetes, Terraform, Chef etc.
• Bachelor’s degree required, with a major in a quantitative subject
• 3 years of experience in an software engineering role
