Booking flights without a credit card is simple and easy. Travelstart offers four safe, alternative payment options which allows you to conveniently book a flight and pay for your ticket online. You have the flexibility of paying via Internet Transfer/ Electronic Funds Transfer, SID instant EFT, cash deposit and cheque card or debit card.

At Travelstart we really aim to make the entire flight booking process as quick, easy and safe as we possibly can, and this is not simply limited to finding the cheapest flights to suit your budget. Making your payment should not be a hassle and although payment via credit card is a popular option, we understand that you may not feel entirely comfortable giving out those details. So don’t worry, we have you covered with alternative payment methods.

How to book flights without a credit card on Travelstart

1. Enter your departure city, arrival destination, and travel dates and search.

2. Select the flight option most suited to your schedule and budget.

3. Insert the correct passenger details according to passport / ID book.

4. Opt to purchase rebookable flights, baggage or travel insurance.

5. Select your preferred payment method: EFT, SID, Cheque Card or Credit Card.

6. Once payment is received, you will receive booking confirmation via email.

Payment Options available at Travelstart

1. i-Pay Instant EFT

A traditional internet transfer, or electronic funds transfer (EFT) can be made if you are registered for online banking. You simply need to log in to your internet banking account after reserving your flight with us and you can then go through the steps to pay your total amount. Just make sure that you let us know that your payment is coming in by sending us your payment confirmation. This can be emailed to or faxed to 086 679 5337. What makes it even easier is that we have accounts for the four main banks of South Africa, so you can line up your payment to the same bank that you use. Making payments to and from the same bank will save you additional banking costs and it will be done instantly; so there is no need to wait those three long business days.

i-Pay is a safe, convenient way of paying for your booking instantly using your online banking facility without ever having to visit your bank’s website or adding us as a beneficiary. It is essentially an instant EFT that forms a part of our booking process. Once you have chosen your flights and have opted to pay using SID, you will be redirected to to log in to your bank and complete payment. Your payment will be instantly transferred to Travelstart and your e-ticket will be sent shortly after the successful transaction. To ensure your payment is successful, please do not close your browser during the transaction process. The process may take between 5 to 10 minutes to complete.

2. Cheque Card

You can also opt to pay safely with your MasterCard or VISA cheque card for your flights. Much like paying with a credit card, you would need to insert your cheque card details before proceeding to pay. Following this, your payment will be forwarded to our payment security team for a standard background check which normally takes 24 hours to be processed.

3. Debit Card

You may not have a credit card, but if you have a debit card you can gladly make use of that. Since Travelstart is now officially an approved beneficiary at the four main South African banks you can use your debit card in your local bank. However, you need to ensure that your debit card is enabled for e-commerce. A debit card is enabled for e-commerce when the numbers on the card are raised. All you need to do is swipe your card at the Self Service Terminal, enter your Travelstart reference number, and there you have it!

4. Cash Deposit

If you are not close to an Internet connection, you can make a cash or bank deposit straight from your very own bank. You simply need the banking details of our corresponding bank, and you can then make your deposit for the total amount at the teller. Should you wish to utilise the cash deposit option, simply select the EFT option when your checkout and proceed to your bank to make your deposit. Once the deposit has been made, the bank teller will provide you with a stamped deposit slip, which would then need to be scanned and emailed directly to, along with your booking number, the same day the deposit was made.

5. Pay@Pep - Pay for flights at Pep Stores nationwide

Now you can book your flights online and pay for them at your nearest Pep store. Simply follow these easy steps:

  1. At ‘Checkout’, select the Pay@Pep option
  2. Take your reference number to any Pep store to complete your payment
  3. Payments can be made in-store via cash, credit/ debit card, or EFT
  4. Once payment is successful, we will email you your e-ticket and booking confirmation

Is it safe to pay online?

This certainly is an important question to ask in order to ensure that your private details are safe. For Travelstart, we are very well aware of the risks involved when handing over sensitive information online, and that is why we have taken all the steps to ensure that you are always safe and protected.
