Travel can be an expensive adventure and flight tickets and accommodation aside; agent fees and extras can come to a pretty penny. At Travelstart, we keep everything translucent and make sure that the price you agree to on your invoice is the only price that you will pay. Booking fees are standard practice across all travel agencies in South Africa, but the exact price of it depends on the agency itself.
Whereas most agencies will charge customers a percentage of your overall flight tickets to cover your booking fee, Travelstart charges a flat fee that gets paid once, upfront. This way you never have to worry about any hidden costs that may occur. It is true that the only way to book a flight without a booking fee is to book directly with an airline, but what you’ll be missing out on is the peace of mind that all of your travel arrangements will be taken care of.
1. Enter your departure and arrival destinations and dates, click the ‘Flexi Tickets’ option and search.

3. Insert the correct passenger details according to passport / ID book.
4. For peace of mind, opt to purchase rebookable flights, baggage or travel insurance.
5. Select your preferred payment method: EFT, SID, Cheque/Debit Card or Credit Card.
6. Once payment is received, you will receive booking confirmation via email – along with a breakdown of all fees.
A booking fee, at Travelstart, is a once off payment that gives you access to an array of services that our company has to offer. These services include the expertise of some of the best travel agents in the country and their plethora of knowledge, as well as access to the most exclusive flight deals and promotions on offer at any time on the Travelstart website.
Whereas it may not be possible to book your flight without a booking fee, there are ways to reduce the price of it – all it takes is a bit of smart planning:
Plan ahead — as with things travel related, the early bird really does catch the worm! Try to book your flights, accommodation, car rental and tours as far ahead of time as possible.
Be flexible — different dates allow for different flight specials and promotions, and
the more flexible your flight dates are, the better deals you will find.

Time to departure — the further away from your time of flight departure that you book, the cheaper your overall additional charges.
Consider out of season — flights tickets, accommodation and all of the rentals needed for your trip away is almost always cheaper over the low/shoulder season for a particular destination - the same rule of thumb applies for your booking fee. Have a look at our list of domestic and international airlines for great flight bookings all year long.
All flights that are booked via Travelstart are liable to a booking fee. The amount of money that you pay depends on the type of flight that you book. No fees (of any kind) will be charged to you that have not been agreed upon, ahead of time.
